Visa-sponsored tech jobs in Portugal

No employer licence is needed — the role itself has to qualify

Portugal keeps no register of licensed sponsors because it does not need one: any employer can hire a skilled foreign worker if the job clears the route’s bar. For the Portugal Highly Qualified Activity (D3), that bar is an annual gross salary of about EUR 31,000. A posting clearly paying below it is excluded, for the same reason a posting that says “no sponsorship” is.

The D3 route needs no employer certification. The figure is a multiple of the Portuguese national average wage, so it moves every year — the multiple is the durable fact, not the number. Portugal also runs a Tech Visa scheme that is faster but requires the employer to be certified by IAPMEI, which publishes that list; a role at a certified employer is a stronger bet than this score can currently show.
